OUR CLUB

THIS MONTH'S NEWSLETTER

Being something of an 'outdoors' person I find the time from mid-November to mid-January a little galling with the short days and long dark evenings. The latter have been somewhat enlivened by the enthusiasm shown at the some of club events. I particularly remember the obvious enthusiasm of a relatively recent convert to photography in the Retford presentations, the support shown by members in the Them-v-Us competition and who can forget the enthusiastic presentation of her excellent images by Sonia.

It is also particularly encouraging for members to see the wide range of interests and dedication to the the art of photography presented on the Show-and-Tell evening. It stimulates us into thinking about our own efforts and how we may develop further skills and images. I shall definitely be pushing for an AV Show-and-Tell night where we can see the rest of Helen's productions and I may even excite you with a 'flora' effort myself.

I have added two more sections to the website, namely 'Where to go for a good picture!' under the Knowledge menu and 'Members Work-in-progress' under the Galleries menu. The first is a service to members providing them with information on places and events that may be useful in the search for a picture and the latter is to try and show to the outside world, and prospective members, what we are about. Both are nowhere near complete as I hope members will provide me with more content.

If you have been taking some good pics that you may not want to enter for a competition but would like them shown to a wider audience send them to me with a little 'blurb' - up to 6 images will be sufficient plus a link to a blog or website if you have one.

Also if you go somewhere or to some event that you enjoyed, photographically', let me know and I will add it to the list of places and events.

All the best for the new club year and may your eye for a good image be with you always.
