PRESIDENT'S COLUMN

It is a great honour to have been elected the 7th President of RB Camera Club and I am very proud to accept this chain of office for the next two years.
Looking back over the long illustrious 54 year old history of RB, I shall have some hard acts to follow, but having been given a unanimous vote by the committee and it was then put to the membership to voice their opinion...I waited.
I must be the first President to have been elected by email, with any one member having had a veto on my election and I must admit I felt like a prospective Pope waiting for a tail tell puff of black smoke to appear from some mysterious chimney somewhere in Nettleham or even Lincoln and the surrounding districts.
To quote from the immortal Bard (once the proverbial white smoke appeared)
“Such outward things dwell not in my desires,
But if it is a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending Soul alive”. (Henry V Act 4 Scene 3)
My role as I see it, is to support, encourage, advise (when asked) and promote the good name of RBCC; that the Constitution and rules are adhered to and that the important decisions affecting this Club are made by the Membership and not by any one individual.
I trust that I can fulfil my obligations with honest endeavour and continue to contribute to the long and illustrious traditions of RB Camera Club.
I thank you all and accept with pride and humility the honour you have bestowed on me.
