SPRING IS IN THE AIR (If a little late!)

The weather has undoubtedly been the maim topic of conversation over the past month and no doubt we shall bne seeing an increase in the number of snow images in future club competitions; "It is an ill wind that blows nobody any good" but it does make landscapes that much more interesting.
The snow was inevitably followed by rain and sludge and to indulge in a woodland walk was akin to paddling in thickened gravy.

However, undeterred Nature continues to amaze us with its spring fashion parade, the "Yellow Collection" such as aconites crocuses and daffodils being the trail blazers. The tête-a-tête variety being particularly popular due to its strong short stem, resulting in a built-in security system that withstands the strong March winds. Standing in clumps they are not dissimilar to a group of young débutantes chatting sweet nothingness to each other, heads nodding in an attempt to out-glow the radiance of their neighbours. By contrast the King Alfred variety of daffodil, a large tall, confident fellow, more like Clint Eastwood than Hugh Grant!
Stand a while, admire them, photograph them, and then listen to Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" at the same time, and wow; you have your own 3-D A.V.

Daffodils

If you happen to live in the uphill area of Lincoln you cannot help but have noticed the influx of early morning runners. Some visibly struggle at the slightest increase in gradient , whilst others seem to zoom past, pony-tails bobbing in rhythm to their pounding feet.

Yes it's fast approaching; the "Lincoln 10K Road Race" on Sunday 21st March. This year for the first time, push-chairs pushers, wheel chair pushers, together with athletes, casual runners, and school children can all take part in their very own "Buggy Push" Check the starting point and time in the local paper and radio news. Last year 4500 participants took part so there should be plenty of photographic opportunities; that is of course unless you are actually running!
In that case RB Club members wish you well, and will, I am sure sponsor your charity.

Further details and map can be found on: www.lincoln.gov.uk where you will also find the sponsors and the photo gallery for this event.
